The Best Labor Day Laptop & Tablet Deals: Outstanding Sales on Chromebooks, iPads, MacBooks, and More (2024)

Labor Day weekend is approaching, and no matter how you're celebrating the three blessed days of rest and relaxation, you should take a second to get some end-of-season shopping in. There's nothing retailers love more than capitalizing on a holiday to get people purchasing, and we're already seeing some pretty spectacular price drops on all kinds of hardware. It's pretty amazing to see the new generation of MacBooks on sale so soon after release, but we're not going to ask questions with a laptop this good. Using Apple's proprietary processor, the Air is optimized to support Apple's new Apple Intelligence AI features, coming later in the year. In our review, we gave it an Editors' Choice award and said the portable was "at the forefront of the ultraportable-laptop crowd," thanks to its lightweight all-metal design, fast Thunderbolt 4 ports, and epic battery life. This is one of the best laptops on the market, so snag one while it's on sale.

Even though the 9th generation iPad released three years ago, we still give it an Editors' Choice rating as the best bang for the buck in an Apple tablet. In our review, we raved about the "more powerful processor, double the storage, and improved cameras," noting that it hit a sweet spot between size, weight and performance that few other portables had managed to do. This configuration comes with a 10.2" Retina display, 64GB of onboard storage and fast Wi-Fi connectivity, and this is one of the lowest prices we've seen all summer.

We called this "the best detachable Chromebook" in our review, giving the IdeaPad Duet 5 Chromebook an Editors' Choice award and praising its bright, responsive OLED screen, excellent keyboard (a Lenovo trademark) and included kickstand and keyboard cover. This unit really squares the circle between a tablet and a traditional laptop, letting you use the touchscreen alone or combined with the keyboard and touchpad. This configuration ships with a ‎2.55 GHz Snapdragon processor, 4 GB of LPDDR4X memory and 64GB of eMMC storage—not a ton, but remember, Chromebooks are designed for cloud computing.

If you're looking for a tablet to express your creativity with, but don't want to shell out for an iPad and an Apple Pencil, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite might be your jam. When we reviewed it, we said that the portable was "a good choice for people doing note-taking or art on a budget" thanks to the included Samsung S Pen, which is both tilt and pressure sensitive. Running off of a Samsung Exynos 9611 processor with 64GB of internal storage, this is an affordable option with surprisingly solid build quality and a 10.4" 224ppi screen.

Even though back-to-school season is on, we're also seeing price drops on gaming laptops. This is a satisfying 17% discount on a very nice midrange Asus model, with a gorgeous FHD panel that boasts 100% sRGB color accuracy and Pantone validation, along with a 165Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, you'll find a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13650HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU, along with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD.
